NANTAHALA GORGE
HORSEBACK RIDING |
Nantahala Gorge Horseback Riding (One Hour
Trip) The one hour trail winds through the Nantahala National Forest,
and offers overlooks of Fontana Lake, the Appalachian Trial, and the Great
Smoky Mountains National Park. This is a popular option for guests who have
time constraints or who have young children under 5 years old who are horseback
riding for the first time.
Nantahala Gorge Horseback Riding (Two Hour and/or Three
Hour Trip) The two and three hour trails wind through the Nantahala
National Forest in the scenic back country of the Nantahala Gorge. These trails
have ridge top overlooks of Fontana Lake, the Appalachian Trail, and the Great
Smoky Mountains National Park. In addition to the long-range distant views,
riders enjoy some close up views of Fontana as they travel along the EDGE of
the lake. These very popular trips offer a variety of terrain. These trails
also allow guests to enjoy horseback riding through thickly forested areas with
multiple species of trees, a great variety of plants, and beautiful flowers. A
variety of wildlife may be seen, including deer, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, and
an abundant variety of birds and butterflies.
Nantahala Gorge Horseback Riding (Four Hour Trip/Half
Day) The four hour trip goes over all 3 of the above trails, and
includes all of the different trails of the 1 hour, 2 hour, and 3 hour trip!
This trip[ allows you to see all the scenic vistas, forested areas, and plant
and wildlife areas of the back country of the scenic Nantahala Gorge in the
Nantahala National Forest.
TSALI RIDING TRAIL
Nantahala Gorge Horseback Riding (Full Day
Trip) The full-day Tsali horseback riding trip takes you through the
scenic Nantahala National Forest in the U.S. Forest Service managed Tsali
Recreation Area. Participants enjoy scenic vistas in the Nantahala National
Forest, long range distant mountain views, numerous views of Fontana Lake, and
the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A very distant view of Clingman's Dome
can be seen. This forested trail system offers beautiful trees, an abundance of
native mountain laurel, and other flora that includes a great variety of
interesting native plants and beautiful flowers. This trail takes riders across
several stream crossings, and allows participants to ride on the shore of
Fontana Lake. A variety of wildlife can be seen, including deer, turkey,
squirrel, rabbit, bear, wild hog, and an abundant variety of birds.
Bring your own lunch for the Tsali Trip. Picnic time is
around noon!
